Bengaluru (Bangalore), India

Bengaluru has blown Delhi and Mumbai out of the water when it comes to flamboyancy, extravagance and vibrancy.  A cosmopolitan feel is prominent due to the technological flair and need for speed. Bengaluru has a new high speed Metro network that will take you from ‘A’ to ‘yippeeee’ within minutes.

If you want to go away but cant wait any longer then this place is for you – the city’s cultural festival kicks off in January and is completely free, so hurry! Don’t worry if you cant get away – October is another prime time to visit due to the annual Ranga Shankara Theatre Festival that showcases the best of the contemporary and classic Indian stage productions. Bengaluru has a very lively arts and music scene with jazz playing a large part!

Stockholm, Sweden

It was only recently that we sent a lucky EDF winner away to visit the Nordic paradise that is Stockholm… now everyone needs to go! Popularity has soared since the recent fame of Stieg Larsson’s trilogy, but don’t get sucked into all of the supposed underworld of murder and deceit as Stockholm is a whimsical medley of  picturesque islands, mouth-watering modern art and bohemian bars.

Whilst we’re gearing up for the Olympics, this city will be celebrating the centenary anniversary of the 1912 Stockholm Olympics in July with a marathon retracing the original route – a great (and energetic) way to see the city! Stockholm has the reputation for being rather expensive so we advise you to book early and shop around for the best deals. With all the wonderful things the city has to offer, we think it’s worth it.

Havana, Cuba

If you want to visit anywhere with an abundance of authenticity, realism and optimism then look no further than Cuba’s capital, Havana. The whole country is stuck between a rock and a hard place, also known as socialism and capitalism, so, whilst this is great news for Cubans it does mean that the dream of the only country seemingly stuck in a hedonistic 1950’s party might soon be over. Enjoy cadillacs, mojitos, architecture and pristine beaches to name a few of the Caribbean delights.

Christmas is a magical time of year for Cubans as they celebrate Christmas Eve with one of the most eclectic street parties known to man so book now for an undeniable end to 2012.
